Flora Kangas, who loved to be called "Momma" by her kids, passed away on February 1, 2021 at Woodlawn Nursing home.
Flora Kangas was born in Newport, New Hampshire on January 29, 1928 to Hazel Morrill and George Happy DeMars. She loved her home town and spent a great deal of her time in Newport.
Flora Kangas was mother to Charleen Kangas Braley, Stephen Van Kangas, Shelly Kangas Doxter and Brent Leo Kangas. She raised her children with love and devotion in Guild with her late husband Leo Richard Kangas. Flora Kangas was given several names by her grandchildren such as Mimi, Big Gram, Grama Kangas to mention a few.
Flora Kangas was known for her dedication to her family, friends and church. She worked at the Newport High school in the cafeteria and later on served at the Lake Sunapee VNA as a volunteer hospice caregiver. Her hobbies included baking, cooking, camping, singing, hosting and travelling. Flora made several trips across various states touring with her family members. She loved charity and made several donations. She was most of all, proud of her faith in God. Heaven has gained an Angel.
She is survived by her four children, grandchildren (Vicki Clark, Lisa Braley Coburn, Allison Richardson, Jennifer Dean, Kalen Kangas, Matti Doxter, Jaden Kangas and Addison Kangas). Great grandchildren (Tyler, Haley, Megan, Jake, Erica, Emma, Kensley, Autumn, Rayden and Declan). Great great grandchildren (Pierce, Ava, Mia, Brooklynn, Noah and Miles) Nieces/Nephews (Debbie, Lori, Sherry, Robin, Randy, Bruce, Kim, Amy, Tommy, Nikki, Scott, Cathy, Mark, Derek). Calling hours will be Friday February 5, 2021 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St. Newport, NH. A funeral service will be held Saturday February 6, 2021 at 11:00am at Lake Sunapee Baptist Church, 314 Sunapee Street, Newport, followed by a graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery at 12:00pm where Flora Kangas will be laid to rest right next to her dear husband, Leo Richard Kangas.
