Flora "Flo" Taylor Figge, 95, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away on May 23, 2024. She was born to Harold and Helen (Prall) Taylor on August 9, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY.
After graduating high school, Flo attended Ohio Wesleyan College where she received her BA in Psychology. After college, she returned to New York where she met and married her beloved husband, Erwin Figge, on April 11, 1952. In 1959 Flo and Erwin moved to the Des Plaines, IL where they lived until 1993, when they moved to Littleton, Colorado. Flo was married to Erwin, who passed in 2009, for 57 years.
Flo dedicated the early years of her marriage to raising their two sons, and then to educating children within the River Trails School District in Mt. Prospect, IL. Flo was a teacher for 24 years and was much loved by her students and is still remembered fondly.
During their marriage, Flo and Erwin loved to travel to all parts of the world, meeting new people and visiting and learning about different cultures. Flo continued this tradition even after Erwin's death, taking many trips with the educational travel company, Road Scholar.
Flo, known for her warm and talkative nature, will be remembered for her energy and involvement in many activities, including book clubs, movie nights, bible studies and singing, a passion she pursued by participating in church choirs throughout her life. Locally she was involved in the Saint Philip Lutheran Church choir and Lutheran Choral. It was through her involvement in a church choir in Brooklyn that she met Erwin.
Flo is survived by her two sons, Chris (Emma) Figge and Paul (Janet) Figge; three grandchildren Matt (Devon) Figge, Megan (Jimmy) Mijares, Michael Figge; three great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Adalyn Figge, Ellie Mijares.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that any donations be given to St. Philip Lutheran Church in Flo's memory.
