Fern Louise Hoing Hamm, age 91, passed away on October 30 and is now in the light of His glory and grace.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2021, in the Archer City Cemetery at 10 W. Evergreen, Archer City, Texas with Silvia Wang, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Archer City, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Born in Walters, Oklahoma, to Andrew Herman Hoing & Hattie Lorraine Robison Hoing, Fern lived in Texas most of her life. She was the widow of Marvin (M.L.) Hamm Jr. to whom she was married for 63 years.
She lived a life of service to others. In Wichita Falls, Texas, Fern served as both a Brownie Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother, a PTA Officer, and a member of the Calamity Jane Rescue Squad. She also worked with a group of friends to provide services to a Cystic Fibrosis patient.
Her service continued in Odessa, Texas, where she delivered Meals on Wheels, and worked at the Ronald McDonald House. At Highland United Methodist Church, she served as Sunday School Secretary, coordinated the Feed My Sheep Program, as well as helping with Vacation Bible School.
Her legacy of service continued in her children - a nurse and three teachers.
She also worked in Medical Records at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas.
Fern is survived by her children: Janice (Jan) and her husband, David Hiatt; Wade Hamm; Vicki and her husband, Michael Eaton; and Lisa and her husband, Gerald (Ty) Westfall. Other survivors include her grandchildren: Michael Hiatt, Jennifer Hiatt Noel & husband Francis, Dayna Hiatt Davis, Cameron Eaton and wife Cynthia, Scott Westfall & wife Lillie, and Lt. Andrew (Drew) Westfall, Texas Army National Guard, and Great-Grandchildren Cpl. Andrew Hiatt, USMC, Kaden Hiatt, Grey Davis, and Finley Westfall.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, her parents, her sister Jo Carol Hoing Carver, her brother Roy Don Hoing and a niece and nephew.
