Fanny Virginia Maines, 89 of Southern Pines, passed away on April 23, 2024 at St. Joseph of the Pines.
Born on November 9, 1934 in Quick, West Virginia, one of a large and wonderful family, to the late Saul and Laura Hunter. Fanny was a strong-willed independent woman with a free spirit that will never be forgotten. She worked for many years at the YMCA in Toledo, Ohio. After her move to NC she did a lot of local volunteer work in the Southern Pines area. She enjoyed swimming, golf, the beach and the love of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gay Maines; and one daughter, Jeri DiNardo.
She is survived by one son, Gaylord N. Maines (Patsy); three sisters, Fleta Turner, Doris Hudson, and Clara Means; grandchildren, Hunter Maines (Shauna) and Antonia DiNardo; also survived by one great granddaughter, Mavis Kay Maines and many other family and friends.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held for the family.
