TRIANA - Evelyn Elizabeth de Silvesti Triana passed away on January 3, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on May 18, 1937, in Miami, FL to Ella Evelyn Wilkins and Rupert J. de Silvestri. Evelyn grew up in Miami, FL, and graduated from Miami Jackson High where she excelled in volleyball and basketball. After high school she moved to Atlanta, GA, to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. Evelyn attended Crawford W. Long Hospital and met the love of her life Dr. Carlos R. Triana, where he was Chief of Surgical Residency. Evelyn and Carlos R. moved to Patterson, GA, and opened their family practice. While in Patterson, Evelyn enjoyed working alongside her husband, participating in The Blackshear Women's Club, golfing, growing roses (winning numerous ribbons) and cooking. Evelyn was a consummate homemaker and was selected "Homemaker of the Year" in 1973. She was famous for her large Thanksgiving celebrations where she would host 30+ cousins and many friends in her home every year. After the death of her husband in 1985, she moved back to Atlanta where she continued to work as a nurse in utilization review for IntraCorp, becoming a member of the American Board of Quality Assurance & Utilization Review. Evelyn loved life - in her later years, she played volleyball through the Waycross YMCA, played softball through IntraCorp, was certified as a Chiropractic Assistant, took many creative writing courses, and always attended every sports and school event for her grandchildren. Upon retirement in 1999, Evelyn enjoyed visiting Chuckie and Brett on their Naval tours to Spain, Sicily, Africa and many locations stateside. Evelyn was a wonderful and loving mother to Chuckie Triana, Jacksonville, FL, Rusty Triana, Duluth, GA, Toni Livingston, Duluth, GA, and son-in-law Eddie Livingston, Buford, GA. She adored her grandchildren Brett Triana-Foster, Hannah Livingston and Mitchell Livingston. While Evelyn "Jr" did not have any siblings, she could not have loved her cousins Meade Collinsworth and David Meetre any more than brothers. Jr, as she was loving known, loved deeply and without reservation to all her extended family that she grew up with in Miami. While she will be missed, we will remember her quick wit, zest for life and wonderful love story with Carlos R. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.billheadfuneralhome.com. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at Bill Head Funeral Homes & Crematory Duluth Chapel (770)476-2535
