Evelyn, or "Meme" was a voracious reader and highly competitive lover of all card and board games. Each morning she and Michael engaged in the daily crossword puzzle challenge to see who would finish first. She loved to travel, cook, bake and entertain family and friends. She and Michael visted many places in Europe, South America and the United States, and most recently cruising was one of their favorite modes of travel. A favorite pastime was going to Foxwoods Resort and Las Vegas to play the slot machines and Bingo, where she could sustain for hours on end. Since retirement Evelyn and Michael split their time between Venice and Cape Cod, where summers were spent with family going to the beach, using the outdoor shower, hitting the Elks Fish Fry and weekly Bingo nights, Arnold's and the Friendly Fisherman for lobster rolls and onion rings, and Nauset Ice Cream. Game nights were a Cape vacation ritual and she was a ruthless competitor who played to win with gusto. She was a member of the American Legion, the Moose Auxiliary, the Elks Auxiliary and the Norwalk Teachers Association.
Due to the current health concerns around Covid 19 a memorial service and interment will take place at a later date in Norwalk, CT. The family wishes to thank the staff of Venice Regional Hospital and the Tidewell Hospice for their solicitous and gentle care of Evelyn.
