Evelyn Lowrance Leggett (Mrs. Carl M. Leggett) entered the gates of Heaven on May 31, 2022. She was born July 14, 1923, near Iowa Park, Texas. Evelyn met her husband at church in 1943. Carl was stationed at Shepherd's Air Force Base going to Glider Pilot School. They were married June 5, 1944, and moved to Memphis in 1945 after World War II. They were married for 55 years. Evelyn enjoyed traveling with her husband. Throughout the years they attended Home Builders, Real Estate conventions, Glider Pilot Reunions and Elder-hostels. They made many friends they kept in touch through the years.. Surviving are her children: Garland Leggett, Carol Rakestraw, and Richard (Sheila) Leggett; her grandchildren: Amanda Leggett, Andrew (Jen) Leggett, Brett Leggett, Curt (Anne Duvall) Rakestraw, and Jeff (Tiffany) Rakestraw; her great-grandchildren: Hannah, Emily, Owen, Jackson, Greyson, and Evelyn. Evelyn is preceded in death by Carl Leggett (husband), Nancy Grace Leggett (daughter), and Tristan Shelton Leggett (grandson). A service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 166 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN Saturday, June 11 at 2:00 pm. Visitation with the family will be held after the service. A private family graveside service will be held earlier. Evelyn would like memorials directed to First Presbyterian Church or St. Jude Hospital.
