Eva J. Zanto, age 83 of Beaver Dam and formerly of Waupun, passed away peacefully after a battle with Alzheimer's disease on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Prairie Ridge in Beaver Dam.
Eva was born on April 4, 1941 in Fox Lake, the daughter of Casmir W. and Mary Anne L. (Bell) Klapper Sr. She grew up and attended school in Beaver Dam. Throughout the years, she worked at Larsen Canning Factory in Fairwater and Federal Mogul in Waupun, retiring in 2006. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waupun. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, cooking, being outside, going for walks and bike rides, visiting Wisconsin Dells a few times annually and spending time with her family.
Eva is survived by her daughters, Gina (Jay) Olson, Liza (Lou) Lindow, and Suzette (Eric) Letcher; grandchildren, Sheena, Lexi (Vic Smet), Tawny (Matt Stammen), Heidi, Lydia (Chris Steffen), Erica and Jonathon; great-grandchildren, Damon, Brolly, Ariana, Hunter, and Elizabeth, along with another great-granddaughter on the way; sisters, Betty Michael and Mary Miller; brothers, John (Judy), Terry (Roxann Nell) and William Klapper; and further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Schumacher; great-grandson, Liam; siblings, Carole (Bud) Schepp, Casmir W. Klapper Jr, and Larry Lee Klapper in infancy; sister-in-law, Marcy Klapper; brother-in-law, Jerry Michael; special friend, Bruce Pinkerton and other relatives.
A memorial gathering for Eva will be held on Saturday, May 11 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 11:30 a.m until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Harbor Haven, Prairie Ridge and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care shown to Eva. If desired, memorials in Eva's name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or to the family.
