Eunice E. Kuntz, a resident of Coleman, Marinette, Madison, Birchwood and Middleton, Wis., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at Heritage Assisted Living Community in Middleton. Eunice was born on March 21, 1929, to the late Leo and Edna (Hidde) Buege in Grover Township near her family farm in Coleman Township, Wis.
The family later moved off the farm into the city of Marinette, Wis., where Eunice graduated from Marinette High School in 1947. Eunice attended the University of Wisconsin-Extension in Marinette and then transferred to UW-Madison to attend Nursing School. She met her husband, Bill, while attending college and they were married in 1954.
After graduating from the UW and becoming a Registered Nurse, Eunice moved with Bill to Monroe, Wis., where they started a family. A short time later Eunice returned to Madison, where she would soon be recruited to work at the University Hospital. Eunice worked at University Hospitals until she retired.
Eunice was active in the League of Women Voters in Madison for many years as well as various other fundraising activities for charities. For recreation she enjoyed Bridge club, skiing, vacationing with friends and family, and attending family gatherings with her sisters, Bernice and Elaine, and extended families. She was active with grandchildren, Melissa, Patrick, and Sophie and found a love of craft projects for church fund raisers and Christmas decorations. Shortly after retiring, Eunice moved to Birchwood, Wis., near her sister, Elaine, where she was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed doing for others and making new friends around the community.
Old age took its toll on Eunice the last ten years. Special thanks and God bless family and others for their kind acts and assistance during this time.
Eunice is survived by her two sons, Peter (Rebecca) and Daniel (Ann); grandchildren, Melissa, Patrick, and Sophie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Leo and Edna Buege; and siblings, Bernice and Elaine. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
