Eula Merle Cretsinger Bloodworth 81, of Olney passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 surrounded by the ones she loved. Merle was born on March 27, 1940 in Graham, Texas to Estus Layne "Cret" and Marie (Braddock) Cretsinger. She was a 1958 graduate of Olney High School, after high school Merle relocated to Brownfield to raise her children. After several years Merle relocated back to Olney to care for her mother. Merle was a strong passionate woman, loving mother, friend and the most amazing, kind person that one could ever know. Merle loved to cook and bake for everyone in the community. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Olney. She worked several years at Olney Fuel and was a big part of their "Family". In her younger years Merle worked for the Fuller Brush company, she also worked in the Brownfield school cafeteria and transported children to and from school. Merle spent her spare time crocheting potholders and afghans for family and community.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Bloodworth of Lubbock; her favorite daughter in law, Teresa Bloodworth of Lubbock; daughter, Carmen Valis and husband Joseph of League City; grandsons, Robert Carroll and wife Becky, Connery Carroll and wife Angie and Joshua Carroll; granddaughter, Jenna Valis and great granddaughter; Brittany Carroll and several more grandchildren.
Merle is preceded in death by her parents Estus and Marie Cretsinger and two sisters, Freida Gale Blackwell and Sarah Vivian Cretsinger.
A celebration of life service we be held at the Olney United Methodist Church at a later date. Cremation services under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home, Lubbock, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that Memorial donations be made to the Olney United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 305, Olney, Texas 76374, or to Interim Hospice, 3309 101st Street, Suite A, Lubbock, Texas 79423.
