It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Eugenia Letbetter on January 22, 2025, at the age of 91. Eugenia was a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her journey through life was marked by compassion, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Born on November 5, 1933, in Goldthwaite, Texas, Eugenia was the child of Olean and J.V. 'Dink' Johnson. From an early age, Eugenia exhibited a remarkable curiosity and a zest for life that would come to define her character.
Throughout her years, Eugenia displayed her many talents as an artist that consisted of painting, quilting and stain glass. When she wasn't busy with her artistic talent, she worked endlessly on different genealogy projects and would be so excited to see her heritage, where her ancestors originated from and the stories she could find about them. Through this hobby, she became a member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Judge Nathaniel Hart Davis Chapter; United Daughters of the Confederacy, Thomas Jefferson Stubbs Chapter; National Society of the Daughters of 1812, Thomas Bay Chapter; Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, Robert Woodson Chapter, Chapter Members Heraldry of which she had 53 Coat of Arms; Member of the Magna Carta Ancestry. She also enjoyed her volunteer work at the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County and was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2021.
Eugenia is survived by her daughters Ginne' Liles and husband Steve of Conroe, Andrea Schrock of Conroe; grandchildren Mike Liles and wife Cathy of Burton, Texas, Kari Shore and husband Scott of Tomball, Texas, Kim Burke and husband Jeff of Splendora, Texas, Holly Walker and husband Beau of Montgomery, Texas and Ty Moriarty and significant other Jacquelyn Cashdollar of Richards, Texas; stepchildren Paul Letbetter and wife Pam of Flower Mound, Texas, Tricia Matthews and husband Robby of Panorama Village, Texas; great grandchildren Madonna Liles and fianc?e Kohl Junek, Cooper Liles, Bodie Robertson and wife Stoni, Jillian Shore, Davis Shore, Norah Shore, Tylee Burke, Beckett Burke, Piper Walker and Sutton Walker, great-great grandchildren Lenley and Calvin Robertson and Maverick Mathis as well as a large extended family and many dear friends. Eugenia was predeceased by her husband Johnny Letbetter, parents Olean and Dink Johnson, brother Darrell Johnson and stepson Vance Letbetter.
Funeral services will be held in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., where friends and family will gather to celebrate Eugenia's remarkable life. She be laid to rest in Conroe Memorial Park cemetery. Pastor Ray Hyden will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Genealogy Department of Montgomery County Library or the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County, in honor of Eugenia Letbetter's enduring spirit of generosity.
Eugenia will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say goodbye, we remember the love, the laughter, and the indelible mark (her love for margaritas) that she left in our lives.
