Eugene was born on April 24th, 1924, to Harvey and Bertha (Blek) Moyer in Germantown Township near South Shore, SD. He was the 7th of 10 children. He attended elementary school at Mayflower 23 and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He married Marlyce Zirbel Oct. 5, 1952, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, South Shore, SD. Together they farmed and raised four children. He worked as a sheep shearer in his early years. He served as a member of the Waverly School Board for 10 years and was on the township board. After retiring from farming in 1988, they moved to Watertown. Shortly thereafter, Eugene began his 16 year employment at DC Machining, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.
Hobbies included baseball, hunting and fishing. He loved to play cards and could sometimes be persuaded to serenade you with his accordion or harmonica. He was our Mr. Fixit as there were few things he couldn't make or fix.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 68 years, Marlyce; children: Lynn (Linda) Moyer, LeAnn (Gary) Meisenheimer, Cindy (Keith) Mack, and Ryan (Maxine) Moyer, all of Watertown, SD; 14 Grandchildren and 24 Great Grandchildren; and one sister, Janice Waege of South Shore, SD; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Moyer, of Watertown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; four sisters; and two grandchildren.
