Mr. Eugene Minshew, 74, of Rome, and formerly of Cave Spring, died Monday morning, May 23, 2022 in a Rome care center following an extended illness.
Mr. Minshew was born in Rome August 22, 1947, son of the late Homer Lee Minshew and the late Estelle Williams Minshew. He was a graduate of both Model High School and Coosa Valley Tech, and was associated with the Bekaert Company for 30 years as an electrician prior to his retirement. Mr. Minshew was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in Germany during the Vietnam War era; he coached middle school football at Georgia School for the Deaf, and also served as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts in Cedartown. He was a member of the Anna Kresge Memorial United Methodist Church in Cedartown.
Mr. Minshew is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Diane Graham, to whom he was married February 24, 1973; and by three sons, Derek (Heather) Minshew of Tanzania, East Africa; Kyle Minshew of New York City, and Stuart Minshew (Lauren) of Chattanooga. Three grandchildren, Carter Minshew, Graham Minshew and Haddon Minshew, and two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Loveless of Adairsville and Mrs. Jo Shahan of Armuchee also survive.
Memorial services for Mr. Minshew will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Anna Kresge Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Dickens and Rev. Dale Byars officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial be made to Anna Kresge Memorial United Methodist Church, 15 Booger Hollow Road, Cedartown, Ga. 30125.
