84 of Parma, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2022. Born on May 25, 1937, in Westville, Illinois, the son of John and Helen Mikel (both deceased). Beloved husband for 56 years of Helen Ann (nee Machuga); loving father of Mary Beth Randall (Jonathan), Lynn Marie Lally (Sean), John Eugene, and Nancy Bulic (Anthony); cherished grandfather of Colin and Emily Randall, Jack, Matthew and Megan Lally, Claire, Andrew and Kevin Bulic; dear brother of Geraldine Reddish (Carmen) and Robert. Gene attended St. Charles Catholic Elementary School, Parma Senior High School, graduated from Cuyahoga Community College and the University of Akron, majoring in Criminology and Education. Gene was a City of Parma Police Officer for twenty-five years. He was a federal agent with the Department of Homeland Security for twenty-two years and taught at the Federal Law Enforcement Center in Glynco, Georgia. Gene served as President of the St. Charles Carolus Club and sang in the St. Charles Choir and St. William Catholic Church Choir (St. Simons Island, GA) for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, especially to St. Simons Island, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events, school events and extracurriculars. His protective disposition and sense of humor will be missed. Family will receive friends at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Rd., Parma, OH on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. Prayer Services Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5891 Ridge Rd., Parma, OH, 44129 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
