Mr. Eugene Talmadge Johnson, Sr., 88, of Sylvester, died on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Northside Baptist Church, interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Jordan, Rev. Bobby Joe Brown and Rev. Jimmy Cargle will officiate.
Mr. Johnson was born on November 5, 1933 in Doerun, GA., to the late Robert Ross and Ethel Lee Turner Johnson. He had lived in Worth County since 1970 and was retired from Tifton Aluminum Company. Mr. Johnson was previously employed with Firestone in Albany, where he worked as a forklift driver and was also the owner and operator of Bates Economy Store. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and squirrel hunting. Mr. Johnson loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He attended Riverside Calvary Holiness Church.
Survivors include his children, Terry Johnson (Dorothy) of Jacksonville, Tony Johnson, Sr., (Marcia) of Sylvester, and Lori Ewing (Jimmy) of Poulan; grandchildren, Miranda Crosby, Anthony Johnson, Jr., Trace Glausier, Brandi E. Folmar, and Cedric Ewing; great-grandchildren, Andrew Crosby, MaKenna Crosby, Matthew Crosby and Piper Johnson; great great-grandchild, Natalie Crosby; siblings, Huey Johnson (Sara) of Sylvester, Medford Johnson of Leesburg, Felton Johnson (LaFaye), and Richard Johnson all of Albany.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Laverne Hall Johnson on February 28, 2014; siblings, Calvin Johnson, William Johnson, Curtis Johnson, Thomas "Tommy" Johnson and Geneva Brown Jenkins.
