Etta Marie Mangus

Etta Marie Mangus, 86, passed away on Dec. 30, 2020. She was born in North Canton, Ohio to the late Mack and Helen (Nieporte) McDowell. Etta lived in the North Canton and Akron areas all her life. She is a graduate of St. Paul Grade School, North Canton High School, and St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years in the area; including: St Thomas Hospital, Akron General Hospital, Colonial Gardens Nursing Home, and Edwin Shaw Hospital. She was an avid Pro-Life advocate who participated in local and national events along with working at Akron Pregnancy Services. Etta was an active and faithful member of Blessed Trinity Parish (formerly St. Martha's) for over 50 years. She was a lifelong community and church volunteer who would help wherever she could. She was a Eucharistic minister who visited the elderly of the parish to administer Communion, provide transportation, and assist where needed. Etta also prepared food for funeral meals for families at Blessed Trinity Church for many years. She was such a humble servant of the Lord and left so many loving memories for all those she touched. She will be truly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Etta is preceded in death by her husband, John S. Mangus; brothers, Robert and Thomas McDowell, sisters, Inez Laubacher, and Jane McDowell H.M. and grandson Justin Mangus. She is survived by: her sisters, Jaqueline Brown and Rose Lightfoot; her daughter, Linda Becker; sons, Mike Mangus, Robert (Patty) Mangus, David (Kelly) Mangus, Steven (Irene) Mangus, and Richard Mangus (Gina Weese); grandchildren, Laura, Zachary and Benjamin Becker, Ryan and Joseph Mangus, Alex (Ormary) Hurst, Aaliyah, Selina, Abigail, Jenna, and Sean Mangus, Kimberly (David) Citrone, Carrie, and Paul Mangus, Erica (Nick) Myers, Andrew, Corey, and Hannah Mangus.
Due to Covid-19, Private services were held at Blessed Trinity Parish. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in (memory of Etta Mangus) to the Blessed Trinity Memorial Fund. (Blessed Trinity Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Avenue, Akron Ohio 44310.)
