Selby was born September 27, 1927, to Arch Rice and Winnie Davis Melugin Conner in Archer City, TX. She died December 29, 2022, at her home in Denison, TX.
At the age of eight, Selby's father passed away and she was sent to the Masonic Home and School in Fort Worth, where she grew up and graduated in 1945.
She married Robert Douglas Sharkey on June 7, 1947. Bob and Selby resided in Corpus Christi until 1957, when they moved to Plainview, TX. Bob passed away in 1976.
Selby married J.O. Bass, Jr in 1981. After J.O. passed away in 1997, Selby moved to Van Alstyne, TX. to be close to her children. She was a member of First Christian Church of Van Alstyne, where she served as a deacon and was a member of Christian Women's Fellowship.
Selby was an extraordinary wife, mother, "Mammaw" and friend. She was best known for her beautiful hand-made quilts.
Her best days were the time she spent with her family. Her quit wit and humor impressed those she encountered. She was joyful and content to her last day.
Selby was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Bob Sharkey and J.O. Bass Jr., one daughter Linda Pool, sisters Beth Stamper, Ann Ferguson, Delle Cleere and brother Jake Conner. She is survived by her daughters Angie Boedeker (Casey Kidwell) of Denison, Cathy Reed (Ron) of Van Alstyne and son-in-law Robert Pool of Colleyville.
Grandchildren Brent Boedeker (Kim), Denise Call (Todd), Desiree Toups (Doug), Chase Pool (Jana), Cooper Reed (Andr?a), Carianne Shorey (Aaron).
Great Grandchildren Madison Turner (Zach), Alli Boedeker (Jacob Lopez), Logan Call (Kendall), Malori Boedeker, Tanner Call, Hailey Toups, Jackson Grisso, Harmon Toups, Callahan Reed, Maddox Pool, Reed Shorey, Jake Shorey.
Great-Great Grandchildren Alaia Lopez, Blaze Lopez.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7th, 2023, at 1:00 PM in the First Christian Church of Van Alstyne, TX, located at 724 S Waco St. A reception to follow.
