Mrs. Ethel Marie Israel, Fairland, Indiana, peacefully passed away to her eternal home in Heaven to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 11:40 am. Marie was just shy of her 93rd birthday. Marie was born January 23, 1928 in Moorman, Kentucky to her parents, the late Irenous Henry and Nellie Marie (Bidwell) Yates.
Marie Married Robert Wayne "Bob" Israel on June 22, 1947. Bob was truly the "Love for a lifetime" for Marie. A marriage just six months shy of their 70th anniversary, with Bob being deceased November 4, 2016.
Marie was baptized May 26, 1968 at Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Lawrence, IN. She retired from Naval Avionics Facility in Indianapolis as an electronics assistant.
Settling in Fairland, she and Bob became longtime members of Fairland Christian Church, joining April 2, 1985.
Marie was involved in serving at the church. She also loved collecting Emmitt Kelly, Jr. clowns, cooking, reading and gardening, especially caring for her flowers. Marie showed talent, having earned many blue ribbons for her oil paintings that she displayed at the Brown County Art Barn in Nashville, IN.
Marie is survived by her son, Lloyd A. Israel (Joan) of Eustis, FL; her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" (Dennis E.) Hornocker of Fairland, IN; her grandchildren, Christine "Christy" Bowen and Candice "Candy" (Rob) Feeser; her great-grandchildren, Emily M. Bowen, Asia N. Feeser, Samuel "Sam" Bowen and Hailey A. Feeser as well as many nieces and nephews. What a blessing!
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in passing by her husband, Robert Wayne "Bob" Israel; Annabelle Catherine (James Russell) Fitzgerald of Indianapolis, Ruth Elizabeth (Bobbie) Brock of Anderson, IN, James Moorman Yates of Anderson, IN, and Jack Thomas (Bernice) Yates of Seattle, WA as well as a grandson, Trevor A. Israel of Fairland, IN.
A private family funeral will be conducted at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Pastor Leslie R.
Bearden will be officiating.
