It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Estela Gooch of Harlingen, Texas on October 29, 2021 at the age of 75 years.
Estela graduated from H.M. Kingsville High School, class of 1966. Following graduation, she was accepted into A & I University of Kingsville in which she earned her B.S. Degree in Home Economics and a M.S. Degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Sociology. Her teaching career spanned over 41 years. Her favorite certifications included being a reading specialist & bilingual educator in which she taught English as a second language to both children & adults. Estela spent the majority of her teaching career with Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District and retired in 2013 from Austin Elementary.
In her retirement, she was happiest when serving others. She taught others how to pray the rosary and organized Rosary groups for the unborn and aborted babies. Her ministry work led her into the homes of the sick in which she took a traveling image of Our Lady of San Juan and prayed a rosary on their behalf.
Estela was a member of Divine Will Cenacle of Harlingen, La Pieta International Prayer Group, Siervos Del Amor, Mexico City, Sacred Heart of Jesus Society of St. Teresa Catholic Church in San Benito, Flame of Love movement of Diocese of Brownsville, and Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
She was preceded by her parents, Jose and Dolores Perez, brother, David Perez, sisters; Herminia Juarez and Mary Jane Elwell, nieces, Cynthia Ann Escamilla and Melissa Valadez.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lisa Krawczynski and son-in-law Douglas Krawczynski; grandchildren: Lauren, Ava Jeremy, and Zachary; brothers: Jesus (Viola) Perez, Jose Perez Jr., & Leonardo Perez; sisters: Maria Sylvia (Juan) Castaneda, Maria Elena Perez, and Velma (Gilbert) Perez as well as numerous relatives & friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 4th from 5-9pm Rosary at 7pm at Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 5th at 10 am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Harlingen. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Mont Meta Burial Park in San Benito.
