Ervin Raber, 72, of Shipshewana, (district: 42-1), died at 8:46 am on Saturday, September 24 at his residence. He was born on October 30, 1949, in Topeka, to John and Anna (Yoder) Raber. On May 20, 1976, in Chouteau, OK, he married Clara Louise Miller, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Deanna (Matthew) Yoder of Nappanee, Delores (Christie) Schlabach of Shipshewana; son, Ervin "Dean" (Sara) Raber of Middlebury; 13 grandchildren, Katrina (Luke) Borkholder, Deborah (James) Miller, Meredith (Caleb) Schmucker, Karissa Schlabach (special friend Kevin Hochstetler), Kristen Schlabach (special friend Marcus Yoder), Ethan Yoder, Travis Yoder, Benjamin Raber, Erika Yoder, Sofia Raber, Megan Yoder, Maggie Raber, Evie Raber; great-granddaughter, Eliza Miller; brother, Monroe (Naomi) Raber of Topeka; two brothers-in-law, Lee Miller of Shipshewana, Melvin (Alice) Frey of Topeka; sister-in-law, Betty Raber of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ida Miller, Edna Frey, Sue Troyer; brother, Levi Raber. Ervin was the founder of Raber Patio Enclosures, retiring in 2018. He also enjoyed auctioneering. Ervin was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 25 and all day Monday, September 26 at the Christie Schlabach residence, 155 Union St., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Tuesday, September 27 also at the Christie Schlabach residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop LaVern Yoder and the home ministers. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is assisting the family with arrangements.
