Errol Jon Watkins passed away peacefully at his home on April 17, 2022 after a long illness battle with cancer.
Born in Nashua, NH on February 8, 1945. The son of the late Charles Watkins and Anna Louise Watkins (Webster). Jon was raised and educated in Merrimack, NH and later moved to Manchester, NH.
He joined the US Army in 1965, where he earned his G.E.D. He was stationed in Fort Dix, NJ and served in Korea for 13 months. While in Korea he became a member of I Corps Parachuting Club and made 5 jumps. When he returned from duty, he had several jobs before obtaining a position with the US Postal Service, where he proudly worked for 23 years until he retired in 2007.
Jon enjoyed music and singing, including sometime with the Granite State Barbershop Quartet as a tenor. He was a lifelong Hot Rod enthusiast. He built several cars with the help of his friend, Jimmy Smart and Hot Rod buddies. He attended many car shows throughout New England. He enjoyed driving his 1932 Ford Roadster and 1932 Ford 3 Window Coupe.
Jon will be remembered as a free spirit, who had a fierce thirst for adventure, always marching to the beat of his own drum. Including skiing, skydiving, drag and street rod racing and repelled the Brady Sullivan building for charity in 2020.
Jon was predeceased by his partners of 35 years Edmund Roy, Donald Boxford and Jimmy Gallant whom he cared for until they passed.
Memorial visitation hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Friday, April 22nd, 2022 from 10 - 11 AM. Burial will follow in Last Rest Cemetery, Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack.
