Deacon Ernest Williams, 96, of 2822 Nation Road, Hodges, South Carolina, passed away, Friday, December 8, 2023 at NHC Healthcare in Greenwood, South Carolina. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the eldest and last living child of George Richard Williams and Ethel Mae Moore Williams. Ernest was married to his loving wife Katherine Anderson Williams for fifty years and to this union six children were born. He was employed at Mount Vernon Trucking Company as a Diesel Mechanic and later was employed as a custodian at Belton Honea Path High School until he retired. Ernest Williams was one of the founders and faithful members of Forksville Baptist Church in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, where he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board for over 50 years, taught as a Sunday School Teacher, lead as the Assistant Sunday School Superintendent and sang on the Male Chorus. He was also a member of the Little River Missionary Baptist Association Senior Program. He was a life member of the C.C. Mack Chapter 56 Holy Royal Arch Masons where he served as Grand Mason. Deacon Ernest Williams was very dedicated to his church, family and friends and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Ernest was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty years, Katherine Anderson Williams; three sons, James Richard Williams, Samuel Jerome Williams, and Terry Williams; one grandson, Charles Ray Belcher; two great grandsons, Patrick Belcher Jr. and Rick Williams Jr.; his parents, George Richard Williams and Ethel Mae Moore Williams; and three sisters, Mary Thomas, Katherine Luther and Minnie Latimer. Ernest leaves to cherish his precious memories, one daughter, Ernestine Belcher, of the home; two sons, Tony Eugene (Carrie) Williams, of Ware Shoals, South Carolina, and Ricky Alfonzo (Doris) Williams, of Anderson, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, Patrick, Eziel, J.C., Christopher, Keldrick, Kenneth, Alina, Kiera and LaToya; six great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.
Funeral service will be 1pm, Friday, December 15, 2023 at Forksville Baptist Church in Ware Shoals, South Carolina. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be 3-7pm Thursday, December 14, 2023 in the Wilbur Robinson Memorial Chapel at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service in Ware Shoals, South Carolina.
