Erminia A. De Palma, 86, of Charlestown, RI, and formerly of Somers, NY, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2022, in Clover, SC, with her daughter, Andrea, and son in law, Roger, at her bed side. Minnie, as she was affectionally known, was the beloved wife to Anthony J. De Palma for 51 years. Anthony predeceased her in death in 2009.
Born in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of Joseph and Luisa (Rapuzzi) Maneggia. She was a Registered Nurse having graduated from St. Vincent's School of Nursing. In the early 90's, she retired from Somers Central School District in NY where she was the school nurse for the Somers Junior High School. Erminia and Anthony then enjoyed their golden years in their beloved state of Rhode Island. Erminia was a parishioner of St. James Chapel in Charlestown, RI. Erminia and Anthony loved traveling with family and friends. She especially enjoyed summers in RI when all friends and family were in town and came to visit. Erminia enjoyed the beach, church, reading, crafting, camping, neighborhood events, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and many friends.
Erminia and Anthony had four children. She is survived by three of her children, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and her sister. A son, Joseph De Palma, and his wife, Karen, pre deceased her.
For the past several months, Minnie was under the care of Community Care & Hospice of Rock Hill, SC. Andrea would like to express her gratitude for their support, compassion and guidance during this difficult time.
A private burial will take place at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, RI, where Erminia will be reunited with her beloved husband, Anthony. A memorial will be planned at a later date.
