Reverend Erma H. Rohrer, 82 of Plainfield, passed away on January 03, 2022. She was born on December 18, 1939 in Canton, Ohio, to the late Frank and Frances (Crowl) Harris. Erma graduated from Canton South High School in 1958. She then married Hugh M. Rohrer on August 16, of the same year, in Canton, Ohio. Erma continued her education at IPFW and finished with a Masters of Divinity from the United Theological Seminary in 1983. She was a pioneer as one of very few United Methodist women ministers during her career that stretched from 1985 until 2002; when she retired. Erma was a member of the Indiana Conference of United Methodist Churches and attended the Plainfield United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles, making jewelry, playing cards and traveling. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Hugh M. Rohrer of Plainfield; children, Russell (Terri) Rohrer of Quincy, IL., Sharon Rohrer (Karen Higgins) of Asheville, N.C., Michael (Laurie) Rohrer of Plainfield, Robert (Sheri) Rohrer of Delphi, IN.; brother, Donald Harris of Massillon, OH.; 9 grandchildren, Stephanie, Melissa, Jacki, Matt, Topher, Alisha, Bethany, Sarah, Katie; and 8 great grandchildren. Her parents and siblings, Daryl Harris, Robert Harris and Muriel "Dolly" Hiner, preceded her in death. Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 15 at Plainfield United Methodist Church, 600 Simmons Street, Plainfield, IN. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and the service will be at 11:00 AM. Masks will be required. Memorials may be sent to Plainfield United Methodist Church.
