Eric Christian Unterbrink

After a brief illness, Chris passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, July 11, 2022, in Midland, Texas. Chris was born in Alton, Illinois, on March 14, 1966. He spent his childhood in Springfield, Illinois, graduating from Chatham High School in 1984.

After high school Chris pursued his education by attending Midland College and then graduating from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, with a major in Psychology. He worked as a social worker in both Carlsbad and Hobbs, New Mexico before taking a job with MHMR in Big Spring, Texas. Chris would continue his education by earning a Master of Science degree at UTPB, in Odessa. He was certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor earning his Supervisor in Counseling designation.

Chris went to work as a counselor for ECISD and continued that employment while opening his own private counseling practice five years ago.

Chris was always well-liked, outgoing, and fair-minded. He loved the Midland Rockhounds, hunting and fishing (especially with his dog, Buddy). He spent many hours volunteering for MARC in Midland, Texas which more often than not, involved taking clients on hunting, fishing, and skiing trips.

Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, his half-sister Leigh, and his father, Ray. He is survived by his mother Penny, his brother Kyle and half-sister Jill Brown.

Memorial services will be held later in Minnesota.

The family requests that donations in his memory be made to: MARC, 2701 N. A St., Midland, TX 79705, with a notation that they be used for client recreational activities and trips.
