Eric J. Broussard, 91, of Buna passed from this life February 8, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial at Morse Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm Tuesday prior to services.
Born Feb. 8, 1929 in Scott, Louisiana, he moved with his parents to Port Neches at the age of three. He attended Port Neches Elementary School and St. Elizabeth in Port Neches. He attended St. James High in Port Arthur and was a member of the 1947 St. James Redskins state champion football team.
After graduating he attended Chenier's Business School and went to work for Jackson Motor Co. in the parts department. In 1949 he went to work for Pure Oil in the machine shop as a mechanic eventually working up to time keeper and ordering parts. Pure Oil became Unocal and he retired in 1987 and moved to Buna.
While in Buna he became a board member for Morse Cemetery and president for about 25 years. He did volunteer work at the Buna Nutrition Center for many years delivering meals to the elderly. He served as board member and president for South Jasper Water Supply from the start of the corporation for several years. He loved to travel, listen to cajun music and gumbo.
In 1950 he married Sally Hazel Morse and was married until her death in 2008. In 2010 he married current wife Eva Mouton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eric Broussard Sr. and Winnie (Hebert) Broussard, his first wife, Sally Broussard, and a daughter, Loretta Head.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Mouton of Buna; son, Mark Broussard and Peggy of Port Neches; daughter, Anna Hayes and Toby of Lumberton; step son, Javier Omar Gomez and Cindy of Houston; step daughter, Yadhira Lizet Gomez of Monterrey, Mexico; 1 granddaughter, Margana Dymen and Paul; step grandchildren, Alexander Espronzeda and Abigail Espronzeda; and great grandchildren, Erica Dymen and Anastazia Dymen.
