Monson- Emily Jean (Watson) Wight, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Daughter of the late Paul and Addie (Hill) Watson, she was born in Kennebunk, Maine on September 5, 1931. Emily was a graduate of Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA where she played college basketball. Emily and Roland built Yogi Bear Jellystone Park at Sturbridge Pinelake and Poland Spring Campground in Poland, Maine. Emily spent her later years with the love of her life of 65 years in Kennebunk, Maine where she rode the waves until 80 years old and ate peanut butter sandwiches on the beach. She also spent time in Sanibel, Florida where she spent her days walking on the shore, doing the Sanibel stoop, picking up shells. Emily was an avid Patriots, Tom Brady, Red Sox and Celtics fan, and she never missed a UConn girls basketball game! She loved to paint and created many masterpieces of beach scenes and lighthouses.
Emily will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her three daughters, Judy Livernois and her husband Cliff of Holland, Patti Mastroianni and her husband Bob of Monson, and Diane Wight and her partner Kyle Sarojak of Sanibel, FL; her 2 sons, David Wight and his wife Tamra of Turner, ME, and Daniel Wight and his wife Susette of Lebanon, ME; her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Emily is predeceased by her husband, Roland S. Wight, in 2019, as well as her two siblings, Donald Watson and Marjorie Watson.
