Emily Joanne Beckmann Schott, of Mason and Fredericksburg, passed away on Monday, March 11, at the age of 85. Joanne was born on December 4, 1938, to Elgin Hugo Beckmann and Mabel Tinney Beckmann. She went to school in Mason and was a graduate of Mason High School.
On April 7, 1957, she married Joseph Oscar Schott Jr. Their marriage was blessed with two children: a son, Joseph Oscar Schott III, and a daughter Jay Anne. They moved around quite a bit as Joseph was in the military. They eventually moved back to Mason and after Joseph passed away, Joanne moved to Fredericksburg to be closer to her children. Joanne was the owner of Mountain Magic in Cloudcroft, New Mexico and was a volunteer at the Beckmann-Sauer farm at the LBJ State Park. This was very rewarding to her as she was a direct descendant of the original owners of the property.
Joanne was a loving wife and mother and a beloved "Ganny" to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her children, Joseph Oscar Schott III (Julie) of Fredericksburg and Jay Anne Meister (Shane) of Georgetown, grandchildren: Laura Catt, Lucas Jay Schott, Billie Jo Schott, Joshua Holley and Max Meister and her great-grandchildren: Emmett Holley, Logan Holley, Lucinda Holley, Amelia Boies, Cooper Catt, Noah William Joseph Schott and Colton Jay Schott, a brother Elgin H. Beckmann, Jr. of Fredericksburg, and a sister Debbie Beckmann Dennis of Fredericksburg. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Joeph Oscar Schott, Jr. and two sisters Marilyn Embrey and Becky Terry.
