Born in Hemphill, Texas to Boisie and Temp Taylor Smith. Served with the all black Company D, 355 Labor Battalion from September 25, 1918 to honorable discharge on April 5, 1919. Passed at his residence on Neuville Street, Center at the age of 74. Buried in the Westview Cemetery, Center, Texas with arrangements by Hicks Mortuary.
