Elvessa Marie "Ellie" King passed away at Alden Estates of Jefferson, on April 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of Roy and Leota Crozier, Ellie was born on August 27,1929 in Victoria, IL. She graduated from high school in Elmwood, IL in 1947 and attended and graduated from cosmetology school in Peoria,IL in 1948. Ellie married Dorrance King March 4, 1951, in Elmwood, IL. Following their marriage, they farmed in Princeville, IL and West Jersy, IL before moving to a farm in Helenville, WI. Following Dorrance's passing in 1991, Ellie moved to Jefferson, WI.
Ellie worked for the Jefferson School District as a classroom and special education aide for 26 years. She also did Home-Health work for Jefferson County for 9 years. After retiring, she did volunteer work at St. Vincent de Paul.
Endearingly known to her grandchildren as "Grandma Shortie", Ellie embodied a lifelong spirit of love and caring for her family and friends. She always put others before herself and prided herself on staying closely connected to all those she loved and cherished the things that mattered most. As an avid fan of the Brewers, Packers and UW sports, Ellie joyfully engaged with her family in following her favorite teams.
She is survived by her 7 children, Teresa (Joe) Hetzel of Minneapolis, MN, Doug (Barb) King of Jefferson, WI, Jerry (Gwen) King of Jefferson, WI, Steve King of Jefferson, WI, Leslie (Amy) King of Lincoln, NE, Lynn Kyle of Jefferson, WI and Mark (Laura) King of Franktown, CO. 13 grandchildren, Dan and Laura Hetzel of Minneapolis, MN, Brandon King of Blaine, MN, Josh King of Milwaukee, WI, Tyler King of Los Angeles, CA, Kaitlin Cary-King of Bay View, WI, Nolan Klawitter of Whitewater, WI, Sarah Hagland of Germantown, WI, Zach King of Eagle, NE, Kiara and Thaddeus Kyle of Virginia Beach, VA, Danica and Mackenzie King of Franktown, CO. And 10 great-children and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Ellie and her family wish to thank the staff of Alden Estates and Rainbow Hospice Care for the loving care they provided. Their kindness was greatly appreciated.

A memorial service in Ellie's honor will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home in Jefferson with Rev. Han Lee of Immanuel United Methodist Church presiding. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Her earthly remains will be buried at Rock River Cemetery following the service.
