Elsie Inez Haven Nychyk Bauer, our beloved "Bava", left mortality peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2:00 a.m. at home in Brandon, Florida. A vibrant 95 year legacy of a life lived in service to all fortunate to know her, she changed the course of many lives.
Born the 4th child of goodly parents, Jonah Samson Haven and Clara Rhoda Gennille Haven on February 28, 1927, in Bushnell, Florida, she began her remarkable journey which took her many places around the world.
Her deceased parents (above) and siblings included Clara Madeline Haven Reid (Melvin), Flora Lee (Bee) Haven Littlefield (John Ray), Violet Esther Haven Walker (O'Neal), Edith Viola Haven Hankins
Her surviving siblings are; Frances Evelyn "Bebe" Haven Green (Ronald) and Donald David Haven (Sonja).
Her deceased children were daughters Juanita Elizabeth Nychyk Myers and Vivian Elaine Nychyk.
Surviving "adopted" children include Marca Anne Locatelli Merrell (Kent) and Neil Walker. She leaves 26 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews besides 4 great nieces and nephews and multiple great-great nieces and nephews.
An accomplished chef and cake decorator, she owned a successful catering business, "A Royal Treat", for decades in Brandon.
As a teenager, Inez was a "soda jerk" in a drug store, later on she was the bookkeeper/owner of "Nychyk Gladiola Farms". Inez was the owner/manager of the Royal Palm Motel in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was also owner of a high end Antique/Lladro shop, "Things Beautiful" at Trolley Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, and enjoyed many other varied occupations and careers.
A talented musician, she sang for and directed many choirs and programs in her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She also held many offices of teaching and leadership positions in the Church. Many of her Primary children kept in touch through the years, and credited her greatly for their testimonies and successes.
Inez was a major force in fundraising to build the first LDS Church in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was a designated church personal tour guide to General Authorities, prophets and apostles who came on Church business to Florida, including David O. McKay, Spencer W. Kimball and others.
A celebration of her life was held Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1412 John Moore Road, Brandon, Florida 33511.
