Elsie Elizabeth Kring Bull passed away on January 26, 2026 at the age of 93. Elsie was born on January 3, 1933 in St. Lawrence County, New York, to Joseph Marsales Kring and Helen Ruth Collins. Elsie attended one-room elementary schools near Black Lake, NY. She graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1950 and from the State Teachers College at Potsdam, NY in 1954. She received her Doctorate in Education from Columbia University in 1974. Her first teaching job was in suburban Rochester. She then spent 32 years with East Rampapo Schools in Rockland County outside of New York City, where she worked first as a classroom elementary teacher, then as a school librarian and an administrator. After retiring in 1988, Elsie worked as a librarian at the Finkelstein Library in Spring Valley, NY and at the Rockland Community College Library in Suffern, NY. She moved to Missoula, MT in 2003, where she spent many years volunteering at the University of Montana Library, and camping with the RV group, "The Mixed Nuts." Elsie lived in Missoula until 2025, when she moved to Bozeman. Elsie married Daniel C. Bull Jr. (Danny) in 1958 and lived with him near Suffern, NY until his passing in 1997. The highlight of their horse stable years was in 1972, when their prize jumper, "The Hun," won the high jump in the Madison Square Garden Horse Show. Elsie had one sister, Jean Tews (John), of Madison, Wisconsin. She is survived by her niece, Anne Tews (Bill Gardner) of Lewistown and their children, Glen Gardner of Minneapolis and Brooke Gardner, of Kalispell. A private service will be held at a later date.
