DEFIANCE - Elnora M. Westrick, age 90 of Defiance, passed away on Monday morning, October 17, 2022 at Kingsbury Place in Defiance, Ohio.
She was born on October 3, 1932 to the late Herman and Clara (Wichman) Bunke in Flatrock Twp. in Henry County, Ohio. Elnora was a 1950 graduate of Florida High School. On January 15, 1951 she married Walter Westrick at St. John's Catholic Church in Defiance.
Elnora was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Defiance. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening and canning. Elnora loved helping with Rotary lunches and other project days at church, crafting for school fundraisers, fishing, polka dances, and spending time with her family. She was a very caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Elnora is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Walter Westrick of Ayersville, OH, and her children; Gary (Helen) Westrick of Maumee, OH, Cheryl Doyle of Napoleon, OH, David Westrick of Ayersville, OH, and Karen (Shawn) Moore of Ada, OH. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers; Arthur, Elmer, Albert, Paul, Edwin and Walter Bunke, her infant sister, Erna Bunke, her sisters; Alvina Bunke, Helen Scheuerman, and Luetta Switzer, and her great-great-grandson, Jace Bischoff.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 11:00 am at the church, with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
