Elnora "Norn" Schrock, 94, of Niverton, PA, Salisbury, PA and most recently, Grantsville, MD, died at Goodwill Retirement Community on December 30, 2020. Born July 4, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Amelia (Miller) Schrock. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Beulah Schrock, Annie Schrock, Alta Schrock, Naomi Sigler, Emma Kinsinger, Evelyn Kaufman; and her brother, Allen Schrock. Surviving are her sisters, Orpha Shrader and Ada Schrock, as well as many special nieces and nephews who benefited from her love, knowledge and attention. She graduated from Goshen College, Goshen, IN. Following graduation, she taught school in Iowa. Later she worked as an editor at Mennonite Publishing House in Scottdale, PA. Following her completion of nurse's training, she worked at a clinic in Davis, WV and also at Meyersdale Community Hospital. Additionally, Norn wrote articles for Cumberland Times-News. Norn had a remarkable knowledge of nature?flowers, birds, plants, trees and herbs. Her gardens were artistic and delightful. It seemed as if all of the seasons of the year were her special guests. A simple yet artful arrangement of flowers, plants or branches could always be found in her home. She taught herself to play the cello and performed with an orchestra. Norn delighted in the simple things in life?clouds, constellations, spring "peepers" and whippoorwills. Her wit, wisdom and quiet deeds of kindness enriched our world. Norn was a member of Springs Mennonite Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Goodwill for their care, attention and friendship. Due to our current situation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Upper Springs Cemetery, Springs, PA. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, is assisting the family with arrangements. Those wishing to honor Norn's memory may do so by making a contribution to Mennonite Central Committee, 21 S. 12th St., Akron, PA 17501.
