Elnora Dorothy Marie Davis, 96, passed away on Thursday December 29 in San Antonio, Texas with family at her bedside. Elnora was a kind and loving daughter, wife, and mother.
Elnora was born on May 4 1926 in Cuero, Texas to William Henry Marie and Dorothy Johanna Schreckenbach. After graduating from Cuero High School in 1943, she traveled to San Antonio and, at the age of 17, was hired as a clerk typist at Kelly Field. She married Norman Houston Davis in 1948 at St Paul's Lutheran Church. They were married for 32 years raising two children.
Upon the arrival of her first child, she gave up her office job to be a full time Homemaker.
During her Homemaker years, she became a Girl Scout Brownie leader because her daughter wanted to be a Brownie. In addition, she was also a Sunday School Teacher at Concordia Lutheran Church. Elnora loved to sew, cook, and work in her yard. She especially loved growing flowers. Elnora remained a homemaker until 1962 when she went to work for Cox Manufacturing Company and later USAA.
Elnora is predeceased by her parents, husband Norman, son Orran Norman Davis, brother William H Marie Jr. and nephew William Thomas Shad. She is survived by a daughter Patricia Ann Ferguson (Edward), grandsons David W Ferguson and Phillip H Ferguson, a niece Cynthia Ann Urbanek (Edward), and a nephew Ronald James Shad.
Elnora was a much beloved resident of Arden Courts for the last 15 months. Her caregivers were amazing people who treated her with the utmost love and respect. They always made her feel special and beautiful. Much thanks to all of them. She appreciated all of their love and care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to Alzheimer's Association, Dementia Society of America, and the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or the San Antonio Food Bank.
In memory of Elnora say a kind word to someone you don't like, be respectful of all people -remembering that no one is lower than yourself, and above all love unconditionally.
