Elmer Eugene Young, Jr., 74, of Columbus, passed away at 8:56 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2020 at his home.
Elmer was born February 21, 1945, the son of Elmer Eugene and Veatrice McDaniels Young, Sr.
Mr. Young served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He enjoyed collecting and reselling all sorts of antiques. Elmer liked to watch old westerns and reading.
Survivors include his children, Vivian Burton, Mechelle (Randy) Ackerman, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Nikita Brown, Austin Elliott, Kenneth Redleaf, Emily Ackerman, Cameron Ackerman; sister, Donna (Gary) Davis, Sr. of Columbus; niece, Jessica Davis; nephew, Gary Davis, Jr. of Indianapolis; great-niece, Bella Davis and great nephew, Hunter Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In keeping with the family's wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of life gathering will be held Monday, January 13, 2020 at V.F.W. Post # 1987 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with military honors being presented at 3:00 p.m. by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
