Elmer Menno Yoder, 82, Meyersdale, PA, passed away peacefully from natural causes in his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 16, 1938, to Walter & Annie Yoder. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Homer P Yoder. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Sara (Zook) Yoder, two daughters, Carol J. (Kenneth) Tice, Salisbury, PA, Christina R. Yoder, Meyersdale; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Maleea) Tice, Bethany (Josh) Vasquez, Conrad (Tori)Tice, Leanne (Derrick)Yoder, Nathaniel Tice, Nicole Tice, Ganene Yoder, and two great grandchildren, Alayna Joy Vasquez and Christopher Scott Tice Jr., two sisters, Viola (Noah) Petersheim, Warrenton, VA and Loretta Yoder, Meyersdale, a sister-in-law, Martha Yoder, Catlett, VA and several nieces and nephews. Elmer accepted Jesus as His Savior in his youth and was a faithful member of Mountain View Mennonite Church where he was known as the 'Smartie man' by the children at church. Even the adults would receive smarties when they shook hands with him. He was a dairy farmer and enjoyed his Guernsey cows and Allis Chalmers tractors. After he sold the farm he was a taxi driver for the Amish community. Elmer was a gentle, easy going man who loved his family deeply and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be conducted in the Mountain View Mennonite Church on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Merlin Beachy and Pastor Junior Beachy officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, PA, is assisting the family with arrangements.
