MIDDLEBURY- Elmer Terry, 84, of Middlebury, died Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born May 12, 1936 in Vest, Kentucky to Shelby and Helen (Sawyer) Terry.
He is survived by his wife of 66.5 years Opsy Hatton Terry of Middlebury, IN, 2 sons Bryan L. (Stephanie) Terry of Plainfield, IN, Michael A. (Terri L.) Terry of Huntington, IN and a daughter Tammee S. (Thomas D.) Wilham of Bronson, MI, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Also surviving are 2 brothers Shelby (Deb) Terry, Jr of Wolcottville, IN, Glenn (Linda) Terry of Lagrange, IN and 3 sisters Shelby Jean (Bob) Millhouse of Albion, IN, Ruby (Bill) Gayheart of Lagrange, IN and JoAnn Haston of Lagrange, IN. He was preceded in death by his father Shelby Terry, his mother Helen Terry Gibson, 4 brothers Randell Terry, Bufford "Deke" Terry, Roy Terry, Edgell Terry and a sister Maudie Criswell.
Elmer was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Bristol, IN and he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Elmer worked for Conrail for 42 years, retiring in 1996 as an engineer.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Elkhart Cremation Service is entrusted with his care.
