was a loving father, brother, son, partner, friend. He passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020 surrounded by family. His kindness, intelligence, sense of humor, and captivating laugh made him loved by those who knew him.
Ells was an avid bicyclist who rode countless miles in his life, for both pleasure and charity. He was dedicated to gardening and enjoying healthy food, often cooking with herbs and vegetables he grew. He loved music and concerts, and always sought out new bands to share with his children and friends. He spent time outdoors as much as possible, especially if it involved kayaking or going to the beach. He traveled all over the world to visit his two children and explore unique places with family and friends. He was a well-respected engineer who truly enjoyed his work.
Most important to Ells was his family, who are lucky to have so many wonderful memories with him. He'll be greatly missed by us all, more than words can say. Ellsworth was predeceased by his parents Ellsworth and Johanna. He's survived by his children, Elaina Berkowitz, New Orleans and Steven Berkowitz (Ayumi Sakaino), Tokyo, Japan; his former wife and friend Susan Berkowitz; his sister, Daryl Boyko (Jeff Ganz); his brothers, David Berkowitz (Denise Berkowitz) and Bryce Berkowitz; his loving nieces and nephews; and the friends and community he loved.
In honor of Ells, his family plans to donate a bench to the Pinellas Trail, where he loved to ride. Donations will be accepted at our GoFundMe site (gf.me/u/zd6w7w).
