Ellen Ann Wright, 79, of Kilgore, passed away on May 6, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Ann was born on February 8, 1944, in Decatur, Texas, to parents Alta Ellen Gage and James Isaac Ivy. She grew up the youngest girl of six siblings. Ann met and married Wilfred Steele "Corkey" Wright and they had a long, happy marriage raising six children. On their 50th wedding anniversary, the couple joyously renewed their vows among their children, grandchildren and their beloved church family at Little Mound Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas. Ann spent many years as a trucker's wife and later became a truck driver alongside her husband. She loved deeply and was fiercely protective of the people she loved. She adopted and rescued as many dogs as her family would allow and took great pride in caring for them. She was preceded in death by parents and her husband, Corkey; two sons, David Harold Wright and Jimmy Dale Wright; and her granddaughter, Ivy Davis Ieppert. Ann is survived by four children; Marvin Steele Wright and wife Lisa of Buda, Kirby Lynn Wright and wife Kathryn of Gladewater, Teresa Ann Richey and husband Clifford of Kilgore, Jerry Dan Wright and wife Barbara of Gilmer; Daughters-in-law, Denise Wright and Patti Wright both of Gilmer. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren: Lauren, Collin, Clint, Cassy, Buddy, Stephanie, Jaden, Jordin, Ashton, Walter, Kami, Cody, Kathryn and Sarah; and 21 great-grandchildren: Zoey, Bransin, Kolton, Hunter, Riley, Jordan, Alexis, Isabelle, Thomas, Kinly, Kiyah, Kenna, Kaley, Lyric, Blakeleigh, Atticus, Addylin, Avery, Marissa, Michael and Ashton. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Ivy, of Decatur and beloved nieces and a nephews. Funeral services will be held at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer on May 11 at 2 o'clock followed by a graveside ceremony at Little Mound Cemetery with Bro. Joseph Neil Aga officiating.
