Ellen S. (Buckles) Stout, 72, of Austin, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her residence. She was born on September 30, 1949, in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary R. (Weisenberger) Buckles. She graduated from Columbus North High School in 1967. On July 1, 1967 she married Larry Stout, who survives. She was a homemaker and also formerly worked at the Target Store and the old Shelby County Savings and Loan both in Shelbyville, Indiana. Ellen was a member of the Church of the American Martyrs in Scottsburg, Indiana. She also volunteered for the Knights of Columbus Bingo. Ellen loved watching birds and embroidering. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kari A. Stout; two sisters, Dorothy J. Patton and Josephine A. Scoggin and one brother, Philip Buckles. In addition to her husband, Larry, Ellen is survived by two sons, Larry C. (Houa) Stout of Seymour, Indiana and Jason L. Stout of Chillicothe, Ohio; daughter, Nancy E. (Matt) Stout of Chillicothe, Ohio; two sisters, Mary E. "Betty" Proffitt of Columbus, Indiana and Gwendolyn K. "Wendy" Wright of Columbus, Indiana; two brothers, Charles L. "Chuck" Buckles of Ft. Gratiot, Michigan and Donald J. Buckles of Columbus, Indiana; and four grandchildren, Jeremiah, Brittney, Megan and Jake. Cremation was entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with a memorial service to be held in the spring at the American Martyrs Catholic Church in Scottsburg.
