Ella Marks Harrell, age 8 of Knoxville went to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 20, 2023 peacefully in her sleep at her home. If you knew Ella, and how much she loved gymnastics, she likely entered Heaven walking on her hands. Ella attended First Baptist Church of Philadelphia where she enjoyed participating in the Children's Church program. She was a second grader at Cedar Bluff Elementary in Ms. Perryman's class. Ella enjoyed the outdoors and was very concerned for the environment. She was often heard to say "Pick up that trash and throw it away." Ella loved to hike, she was very creative, and she had an obsession for animals. Most of all she had a fierce determination and incredible desire to help others. All the careers she dreamed of (firefighter, doctor, nurse, teacher) were focused on helping others. The best example, everyone knew she had beautiful long brown hair but she had been growing it so she could donate it to a child with cancer; when she was recently diagnosed herself with leukemia, she did just that. Ella was a fighter and she has won her battle. From an early age she asked questions about God and had a strong curiosity about Heaven, now her questions have been answered. She was a momma's baby, a daddy's girl, and a friend to her sisters. Most of all she believed everyone was equal and saw the good in everyone. Ella's sweet and gracious spirit will carry on in the lives of those who loved her.
Ella is preceded in death by her grandparents, Lucille Reno; David and Lela Harrell; Jim and Wilma Purdy.
