"On this day a beautiful soul has left us" Ella M. Yaple 102, of Stittville passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday, March 29, 2020.
She was born on March 23, 1918 in Barneveld, a daughter of the late Thomas G. and Belle (Sampson) Evans. She was a 1936 graduate of Sauquoit Valley Central, and attended SUNY at Cortland.
On October 18, 1941, at the Floyd Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to Robert D. Yaple, a union that lasted 50 years until his death in 1992.
Prior to her marriage she was employed at Rome State School. During WW II she was a Tester for Circuit Breakers in Trenton, NJ. After she raised her family she worked at Holland Patent Central Schools in the cafeterias. She also worked for the Walter L. Lapham Insurance Agency in Stittville, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of the Stittville United Methodist Church where she served as Recording Secretary of the Administrative Board for 20 years. In her younger years she was active in the Room-Mothers Program at Holland Patent School. She was a Cub-Scout Den Mother and bowled in leagues in Rome and Barneveld. She was involved in Western Square Dancing and gardening. Through classes in Home Bureau she became an accomplished seamstress. She had a vast collection of Photo Albums depicting her family and their adventures over the years. Her writings on genealogy and family stories were her legacy.
She leaves five children, Donna (Warren) Timmons, Roberta Chapman, Roxanne (Jim) Eccles, Eric (Pat) Yaple and Todd Yaple. She also leaves seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She remained close to her brother's children, especially Marion Evans, and many other nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Leland J. and L. John Evans.
Because of the current restrictions with CDC with the Corona Virus funeral services will be private. Interment will be in Townsend Cemetery in Stittville. Arrangements are with the Dimbleby Funeral Homes Inc. 7944 Steuben St. in Holland Patent.
