Elizabeth "Betty" Rylance Whittemore peacefully passed away on Monday January 11,2021. She was born August 2, 1935 in Blakey, PA to John Louis Welsh and Lenore Smith Welsh. Betty is survived by her husband Maurice "Mo" J. Whittemore Jr., one daughter Roberta "Bobbi" L. Whittemore, three sons Maurice J . Whittemore III, David A. Whittemore, Mark L. Whittemore, a brother Alan Welsh & wife Marilyn, and six grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by parents, and a brother Larry Welsh & wife Francis. Betty was a Purdue Graduate ('57). She and her husband met on campus. They lived in Indianapolis, Rushaville, and Kokomo before moving to New Palestine in 1969. Interested in many things, Betty loved to travel and explore, she was a muzzle loading competitor, a seamstress, a Girl Scout leader, and she helped run the family business, 700 West Recording Studio which has become a part of central Indiana music history. many would know her from her participation in the activities of New Palestine; especially her 25+ years of service with the Lions Club where, among other service, she helped coordinate the annual fall festival & distribute glasses to those in-need in Mexico. Betty never met a stranger. She was a loving and caring person who touched many lives.
