Elizabeth Maxine "Liz" Webber, 86, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully at her home on February 23, 2022, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on September 4, 1935, in Jamestown, OH. Liz was the daughter of H. Russell and Pearl (Morrow) Spahr of Xenia, OH. She attended Albion College in Michigan where she met and married G. Robert Webber of Jackson, MI in 1956. Liz earned her bachelor's degree in education from Boston University in 1959.
Returning to Michigan, she gave birth to a daughter, Barbara, in 1959 and a son, Michael, in 1961. When her children were school age, Liz was invited to join the Lowell, MI school staff where she served 24 years as a first-grade teacher before retiring. In addition to her deep love for her family, Liz enjoyed sewing, music, travel, and camping. She had an exceptionally kind, caring and sweet spirit and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bob" Webber of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara (Webber) and Mickey Rauhuff of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pamela (Carmichael) Webber of Ludington, MI; granddaughter, Elizabeth "Libby" (Webber) Grotenhuis of Grand Rapids, MI, and grandson, Logan Webber of Redondo Beach, CA, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Stanlay (Eggert) Webber of Troutman, NC,
Special thanks to her niece, Rose Mary (Garringer) and husband Richard Rittenhouse of Xenia, OH; neighbors Carol Emerson and Mary Lynn Ellison of Knoxville; friend, Judith Shaver of Knoxville, Tennova Hospice, and numerous other caring friends and neighbors.
Liz will be cremated but no services are planned at this time due to Covid 19 concerns. She was a member of the West Knoxville Friends Meeting (Quakers) and her ashes will be lovingly interred at the Meeting House Cemetery.
