Elizabeth "B-Ann" Stivender (95) of Leesburg, Florida, passed away at the Mayfield Retirement Center in Leesburg on July 3, 2021. She was born August 10, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
B-Ann was adopted by Evangeline Bracken-Hill Rogers and Frank Gustave Hoffman in Rockford, Illinois.
The family moved to Orlando, and then to Weirsdale, in the 1930's due to her health.
B-Ann attended Florida State College for Women (FSCW) and graduated in the first class of Florida State University (FSU) in 1947.
As a 4th grade teacher at Tavares Elementary, one Friday 1953, while standing in line at the Bank of Tavares, she met her future husband James "Jim" Stivender, Sr.
While raising her family in Leesburg, she was a substitute teacher at Skeen Elementary. She joined Morrison United Methodist Church in 1954 and volunteered in many capacities, member of the Leesburg Women Club and loved to read.
She is survived by her two sons, James A. Stivender, Jr. of Weirsdale and Frank A. (Deborah) Stivender of Leesburg; two Grandchildren Timothy F. (Abigail) Stivender and Jamie Elizabeth Stivender, and one Great-granddaughter Charlotte Ann Stivender.
Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Mayfield Retirement Center and Cornerstone Hospice for their kindness, compassion and comfort to the family during this challenging time.
A graveside service will held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg with Rev. David Stauffer officiating.
