Boonville- Elizabeth N. Stabb, 88, of Domser Road passed away on February 22, 2021 in the comfort of her home while under the care of Lewis County Hospice and her loving family.
She was born in Patterson, NJ on April 27, 1932 a daughter of Mathias and Margarete Steinbuechel Niederpruem. Elizabeth along with her sister Margarete traveled to Wuppertal, Germany in 1938 to visit their Grandparents and were stranded there when WWII broke out. After a nine year separation she was reunited with her parents who had settled in Boonville. Elizabeth graduated from Boonville High School in 1951.She furthered her education at St. Elizabeth's College of Nursing graduating in 1954. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Robert E. Stabb on April 26, 1954 in Utica, a loving union that lasted 66years. The couple made their home on a farm in Talcottville. Elizabeth was employed at Lewis County General Hospital, by local physicians delivering babies in the Boonville area and as a private duty nurse for Edmond Wilson. She retired from Sunset Nursing Home after 34 years with many of those years spent as night supervisor.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary's Church, Constableville. She enjoyed knitting, ceramics, bowling and baking. Most of all she enjoyed her family.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; her children, Ed and Heidi Stabb, Ken and Therese Stabb, Linda and Mark Bourgeois, Lori and Bill Bourgeois all of Boonville, Gerry and Tim Blaise, Ilion, Julie Shannon, Boonville, Bob and Kim Stabb, Fayetteville, NC; son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Martin and Kathy Cannan, Riverton, WY; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are her beloved family in Germany; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Hugo Waynor, FL and Aunt, Roxy Niederpruem, Tuscon, AZ. She was predeceased by a daughter, Terry Cannan in 2000, a sister and brother-in-law, Margarete and Robert Healt and two sisters-in-law, Rita Waynor and Katherine Brown.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 3, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Constableville with Rev. Lawrence Marullo as celebrant. Spring burial in Prussian Settlement Cemetery, West Leyden. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.
