Elizabeth Olline "Betsy" Myers, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Born on December 1, 1940, in Beech Grove, Indiana, Betsy was the daughter of George and Olline Howe McClellan.
Betsy's journey began at Columbus High School, where she excelled and graduated in 1958. Driven to care for others, she pursued her lifelong career in healthcare at the Marion County General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1962. Shortly thereafter, she married Richard "Dick" Myers on June 7, 1963, a union filled with love and happiness until his passing on August 28, 2004.
Betsy worked as a registered nurse at Columbus Regional Hospital for 25 years, where she eventually assumed the role of administrative coordinator.
Betsy's faith was foundational to her life, as she embraced the First Assembly of God community in Columbus. With her compassionate nature and deep-rooted spirituality, she was actively involved in various ministries. Most recently, Betsy had the honor of serving as a devoted prayer partner.
Betsy loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Kimberly (Doug) Fowler of Taylorsville, Angela (Kevin) Nelson of Zionsville, Tess (Ted) Darnall of Edinburgh, and Annette Haley of Columbus. Betsy's love extended to her precious grandchildren: Cory Fowler, Liz Winters, Hayden Darnall, Emily (Marc) Blankenship, Hadley (Hannah) Darnall, Riley Nelson, Trae Haley, Grace Haley, KB (Warren) Totten, and Nikki Jewell. Additionally, she was blessed with great-grandchildren, including Mason and Blaine Winters, Murphy Blankenship, and Colin and Eoin Totten, with another great-grandchild due to arrive in August.
In the embrace of eternity, Betsy joins her beloved parents, devoted husband, and 12 siblings who preceded her in death.
Respecting Betsy's wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana, following her cremation.
Friends and family are invited to honor Betsy at a celebration of life service on July 2 at 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God, 2100 10th Street in Columbus. Memorial Donations may be made to First Assembly of God.
