Elizabeth Y. Ebeling passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at home, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She fought, with strength, prayers and kindness from family and friends, yet succumbed to the unrelenting diagnosis of Glioblastoma.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving and supportive husband, Jan Ebeling, having spent 35 fantastic married years together. She was born on December 27, 1960, in Bethesda, Maryland to James and Bettylu (Jones) Young. Her family was blessed with a stepmother in 1970, Mariette (Aubuchon) Young, after her mother passed in 1969 and her father remarried.
Elizabeth is survived by her siblings: Anne Young , Mark (Jane) Young of, Tricia (Denis) Higgins , Judy (Timothy), Claudia (Brian) Howe, Gretchen (Juli-Ann Drozdowski) Young, Jason (Heather) Young; her stepmother Mariette A. Young; and her sister- in-law Karen (Jeff) Sell. She was predeceased by her parents and her sibling Kathleen R. Young.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her love of family and her many friends. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, siblings, friends, and being "Aunt Busy" to 28 nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Newton North High School, Newton, MA and went on to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA. After living across the U.S., as part of her father's service in the U.S. Navy, the family settled in Boston. She had careers in the hospitality industry and in communications at Corning Incorporated. She especially liked doing things outdoors, be it biking, skiing, hiking, golfing, gardening, and loved to cook for others.
Services: A time of visitation will be held at J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St, Portsmouth, NH on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 4 to 6 PM. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, 2PM, at St. John's Episcopal Church, located at 101 Chapel St, Portsmouth, NH, with online viewership available.
