Elizabeth Ochoa 87 passed away July 3, 2021 in Melbourne, FL. She was a long-time resident of Charleston, SC and a dear friend to many.
Betty was born in Mayari, Cuba. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Dalla-Valle of Marietta, GA and Ernestina Matlock (Dyer) of Melbourne, FL; son, Ernest Ochoa of Charleston, SC; grandson, John W. Ochoa and great-grandson Case Ochoa both of Ravenel, SC.
Betty enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the Dental Assisting Profession as an educator, administrator and patient care coordinator at the MUSC, the College of Dental Medicine. She was honored to be present at the College's first graduating class.
On becoming a US citizen in 1971, Betty began volunteering for the Voters Registration of Charleston County and continued to do so for 35 years.
Upon her retirement, Betty provided bi-lingual role-playing support to the US Border Patrol Academy. She was an active member and a volunteer Spanish instructor at the Low Country Senior Center.
Betty's Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 31st at Providence Church 294 Seven Farms Drive Daniel Island, SC 29492.
